Jade Wolfe (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan) has been named CSAC co-CSAC Defensive Player of the Year highlighting a group of eight Wilson student-athletes earning all-conference recognition on Thursday morning. In addition to Wolfe,
Chloe Antalek (Sr., Wappingers Falls, N.Y. / Beacon),
Mia Harris (Sr., Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro),
Rebecca Marakovitz (So., New Market, Md. / Linganore),
Halley Shaffer (Fy., Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain),
Bianca Sommers (Fy., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg),
Bailey Miller (Sr., Sterling, Va. / Washington), and
Rachel Coulter (So., Woodbridge, Va. / Garfield) have earned postseason honors.
Wolfe earns her second conference award after being named the 2021 CSAC Rookie of the Year. In addition to her defensive honors she was an All-CSAC First Team selection after being named to the Second Team last year. Her efforts helped the Phoenix back line record 10 shutouts on the season, including five consecutive clean sheets during a stretch in October. Her speed allowed versatility in her play which also led to some offensive opportunities with three goals and three assists on the year.
Antalek, Harris, Marakovitz, Shaffer, and Sommers were all Second Team selections.
Antalek is another two-time selection after she was an Honorable Mention a year ago. The forward was third on the team with 14 points and tied for third with six goals. Five of them came during a two-game stretch where she scored a pair against Penn State-Schuylkill before she tallied a hat trick against Valley Forge.
Harris was is also a two-time selection after being named to the First Team a year ago. The defensive midfielder helped control the tempo of the game and limited the offensive chances for many opponents which aided in the aforementioned shutouts. She also flashed some offensive abilities in finding the open player with assists against Trinity Washington, Gallaudet and Cairn.
Marakovitz recorded the complete game shutout in seven of the 10 clean sheets and shared the other three as the starting goalkeeper for the Phoenix. She made 42 saves on the season with a season-best seven against Penn State-Abington. She faced 85 total shots on the season.
Shaffer was the second leading scorer on the team with 27 points on 12 goals, also second-best on the team, and three assists. She scored multiple goals in four games this season. She also accomplished that feat in three consecutive games where she scored eight goals. The best performance of those outings was a four-goal outburst against Rosemont.
Sommers joined Wolfe and Marakovitz on the defensive end and was also pivotal to the many shutouts that the Phoenix had this season. She too had some offensive chances and recorded assists against Valley Forge and the regular season game against Bryn Athyn.
Miller, an Honorable Mention selection, was the leading scorer for the Phoenix this season with 33 points on 16 goals and one assist. She recorded multiple goals in four games with a season-best four goals against Saint Elizabeth. She also had a hat trick against Trinity Washington.
Coulter was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for Wilson. The midfielder exemplified that by not receiving a card all season. In addition to that she scored five goals and an assist this season with four of them coming in a win against Valley Forge.
