LA PLUME, Pa - The Wilson College women's soccer team traveled to take on conference opponent Keystone College earlier this afternoon. The Phoenix rose over the Giants with a final score of 3-1.
How It Happened: Wilson goalkeeper,
Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, Md., Linganore), had her first save of the day in the first minute of action. The Phoenix had six shots saved before getting one passed the Giants keeper off the foot of
Maddy Miller (Dillsburg, Pa., Northern). Eight minutes later, Wilson earned a corner kick that was taken by
Julia Mohler (Point Of Rocks, Md., Brunswick) that was scored
Halley Shaffer (Sunbury, Pa., Line Mountain). A few minutes later,
Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington) extended the Phoenix lead to three off a pass from
Halley Shaffer. Keystone earned their first and only goal in the 62nd minute off a corner kick. Wilson had ten shots but was unable to find the back of the net with the game concluding with a final score of 3-1.
Inside the Box Score: Halley Shaffer led the team in shots and finished the day with ten shots, one shot, and one assist. Wilson goalkeeper,
Rebecca Marakovitz, finished the day with six saves against seven shots. The Phoenix led the Giants in shots with 24 shots to the Giants' seven.
