CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's soccer team took on Trinity University today for a midweek tune-up before conference play resumes on Saturday. The Phoenix earned a win over the Tigers with a final score of 12-1.
How It Happened: Within the first fifteen minutes of the first half, Wilson was leading the Tigers 4-0 with two goals from
Bianca Sommers (Chambersburg, Pa., Chambersburg), a goal from
Gretchen Turner (York, Pa., Northeastern), and an own goal from Trinity. The Phoenix scored four more goals in the first half with two goals from
Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington), and one each for
Rachel Rodriguez (Hedgesville, W.Va., Hedgesville) and Maddy Miller (Dillsburg, Pa., Northern). Trinity scored their only goal of the game in the 53rd minute of action bringing the score to 8-1. Five minutes later,
Gretchen Turner earned her second goal of the game to extend the Phoenix lead to 9-1.
Bailey Miller secured her third goal of the game in the 68th minute of action. Ten minutes later,
Katie Riley (Mt. Airy, Md., Urbana) brought the score to 11-1.
Elizabeth Camplese (Harrisburg, Pa., Cedar Cliff) scored the last goal of the game for the Phoenix and the first goal of her collegiate career with two minutes remaining in the second half.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson finished the day with 25 shots on goal and 12 goals. Eight different Phoenix scored in today's match with
Bailey Miller leading the way with three goals, followed by
Bianca Sommers and Gretchen Turner with two apiece.
