CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's soccer team played their first game of the CSAC Playoffs earlier this afternoon. The #3 Phoenix took on the #6 Giants of Keystone College in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs and will advance to the semi-finals after a 3-0 win.
How It Happened: The game was fairly balanced at the beginning of the first half but with Wilson leading in shots. In the 36th minute,
Halley Shaffer (Sunbury, Pa., Line Mountain) had a shot saved that fell to the feet of
Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington) who scored the first goal of the game for the Phoenix. Wilson had one more shot in the half of the foot of
Rachel Coulter (Woodbridge, Va., Garfield) that was saved by the Giant's goalie. The next goal for the Phoenix was off a shot from
Katie Riley (Mt. Airy, Md., Urbana) 64th minute to extend the Wilson lead to 2-0. Shortly after, off a pass from
Chloe Antalek (Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Beacon), to the path of
Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington) whose shot was able to slide past the Keystone keeper to bring the score to 3-0 after 65 minutes. Keystone had two shots saved in the remaining minutes by
Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, Md., Linganore) to secure a shutout for the Phoenix.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson would finish with 24 shots, 14 shots on goal, and three goals on the day.
Bailey Miller and Halley Shaffer led with six shots. The Phoenix goalkeeper
Rebecca Marakovitz earned another clean sheet with a total of three saves.
