CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's soccer team faced off against the Lions of Bryn Athyn College earlier this afternoon. The Lions led the Phoenix with a final score of 2-1.
How It Happened: Wilson had the first four shots of the game but with three saves from the Bryn Athyn keeper kept the game scoreless. In the 18th minute, the Lions scored their first goal off a corner kick. In the 43rd minute, the Phoenix capitalized off a corner kick with
Jade Wolfe (Mercersburg, Pa, James Buchanan) scoring the tying goal to bring the score to 1-1. The next goal for Bryn Athyn came in the 65th minute off a penalty kick after a foul in the box to take a 2-1 lead. In the remaining minutes Wilson's
Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington) had two more shots that were both saved by the Lion's goalkeeper.
Inside the Box Score: The game was very even and back and forth and a game of set pieces. The Phoenix finished with 11 shots compared to the Lions eight shots. Wilson's goalkeeper
Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, Md., Linganore) ended the game with three saves after 90 minutes.
Halley Shaffer (Sunbury, Pa., Line Mountain) led the team with five shots followed by
Bailey Miller with four.
Up Next: The Phoenix concluded the regular season and will enter post season play in third place. The date and time of their first competition has yet to be announced.
