Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Phoenix Tie Falcons

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Wilson College women's soccer team kicked off against conference opponent Cedar Crest College earlier this afternoon at Chambersburg High School. The Phoenix and the Falcons had a hard fought battle but ended in a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes.

How it Happened: The game against the visiting Falcons was a defensive battle for both sides. A matter of which keeper would slip first, who would find the back of the net first, but neither side wavered and the game ended in a scoreless draw. All of the shots from Cedar Crest College were saved by Rebecca Marakovitz (New Market, Md., Linganore). While Phoenix had more shots in the first half, the Falcon defense kept the game scoreless going into the second half. Rebecca Marakovitz made two early saves in the second half to keep the game scoreless. Wilson had a bundle of shots against the Falcon's keeper with three shots within 45 seconds. In the last minute of play, the Phoenix had a free kick where Chloe Antalek (Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Beacon) lined up over the ball and took a shot that was saved by Cedar Crest's keeper to close out the game with a final score of 0-0.

Inside the Box Score: Bailey Miller (Sterling, Va., Washington) and Chloe Antalek led the team with shots on goal with two shots apiece. Phoenix goalkeeper, Rebecca Marakovitz, faced six shots on goal from the Falcons and finished with six saves after 90 minutes to earn a shutout for the team.

Up next:  The Phoenix will hit the road to face Trinity University on Wednesday, October 5 at 4:30 p.m.
