CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College field hockey team used a fast start in route to 5-1 victory over visiting Bethany College. Five different Phoenix players scored goals on the afternoon as the team won its second game in a row.

Junior Megan Sterling (Aspers, Pa. , Biglerville ) got the scoring going for the Phoenix in the 4th minute as she fired a shot past the Bison goalie off of an assist from freshman Brooke Clark (Newport, Pa. , Newport ) to take a 1-0 lead. The two teams would trade possessions for most of the half until back to back goals in the final 6 minutes of the half by senior Taylor Crouse (Orrtanna, Pa., Gettsyburg Area ), with an assist by freshman Lauren Moss (Bloomsburg, Pa. , Central Columbia ), and freshman Payton Dziemburski (Rising Sun, Md. , Rising Sun ) gave the Phoenix a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The Phoenix kept the scoring going in the 2nd half as Sophomore Annie Demmy (Harrisburg, Pa. , Harrisburg Area CC ) scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Moss, giving the team a 4-0 advantage in the 48th minute. Freshman Lydia Garfinkle (Arendtsville, Pa. , Biglerville ) would tally the final goal of the day for the Phoenix with an assist from Clark in the 61st minute. The Bison would get a late goal from Courtney Gill with an assist from Lauren Rao in the 68th minute to break up the shut out.

The Phoenix held a 9-6 edge in shots on goal, while the Bison held a 9-7 advantage in penalty corners.

With the win the Phoenix improve to 4-4 on the season while Bethany falls to 3-6.

Wilson returns to action on Tuesday, September 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Hood College.
