Men’s Basketball Snatches First Conference Win Of New Program

Box Score Chambersburg, Pa. – Counting down to the last couple minutes of the game, the Wilson College men's basketball team topped conference opponent Bryn Athyn College, 72-66 on January 6.  The win made history, marking the first conference victory in the record of the recently added men's basketball program at Wilson College.

The first half consisted of back and forth scoring from each team, keeping the game close.  Wilson pulled away with the help of some short scoring runs, but Bryn Athyn positioned themselves not far behind.  The Phoenix led the Lions 31-23 at the half, taking advantage of Bryn Athyn turnovers late.  Junior Mylan Ward sparked the Phoenix offense in the first half, scoring 15 points and bringing down five rebounds.

Wilson came out strong in the beginning of the second half, posting a comfortable lead in double digits.  However, Bryn Athyn chipped their way back into the game late.  With Wilson leading 66-64 with just a couple minutes remaining, every bucket was a hard fought battle.  The Phoenix were able to tighten up their defense and secure the win under pressure, by a final score of 72-66.
