Cazenovia Wildcats Take Conference Game Away From Phoenix

Box Score Cazenovia, N.Y. – The Phoenix men's basketball team fell to Cazenovia College this afternoon, 82-78, despite leading at halftime. 
 
Wilson jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the Wildcats with 18:31 remaining in the first half.  Cazenovia took advantage of a minor period of Wilson cold shooting and tied the game 8-8 with 17:01 left.  The momentum swayed back in forth the remainder of the half, as each team consistently scored on their ball possessions.  Wilson took a slight advantage at the half, leading 40-36 at the close. 
 
A couple turnovers in the opening minutes of the second half let the Wildcats tie the game at 40-40.  Cazenovia then took advantage of Wilson fouls and hit their free throws, allowing them to take the lead.  The Phoenix again fell behind for the fourth consecutive game during their road trip and spent several minutes trying to catch up.  Turnovers and cold shooting allowed Cazenovia to expand their lead fast as Wilson continued to have trouble putting a stop to their momentum.  Cazenovia outscored Wilson 46-38 in the half. 
 
The Phoenix finished the game with 20 turnovers and 24 fouls.  Zach Gasper and Ben Holl led the Phoenix offense, scoring 22 points apiece. Rasul Jackson chipped in with ten points. 
 
The Phoenix return home and host Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday. January 27 at 8:00 p.m.
