Phoenix Field Hockey Conquered By Bridgewater

Box Score
Chambersburg, Pa. - The Wilson field hockey team suffered a tough loss against Bridgewater College this afternoon, 3-1, on their home turf.

Sophomore Megan Sterling put Wilson on top first in the game when she scored a goal off a crisp pass from senior Chanteal Cobb.  The visiting Eagles answered back and tied it up in the 13th minute of the regulation when Alenka Ferrufino pushed a goal past the Phoenix defenders.  The game remained even, 1-1, heading into the half.

The Bridgewater attack came through in the clutch as the team scored early in the second half, claiming a 2-1 edge over the Phoenix.  Wilson attempted several scoring opportunities but was unable to capitalize on them.  The Eagles earned a penalty corner toward the end of the second period and added another insurance goal.

Bridgewater outshot Wilson, 20-6, and also led in penalty corners with 14.  Freshman Miranda Long recorded three shots in the game and Megan Sterling took two. Goalkeeper Kayla Butts claimed the loss for the Phoenix in net.

Wilson will host Randolph-Macon College on Thursday, September 25, at 5:00 p.m.
