Chambersburg, Pa. - The Phoenix men's basketball team made history on Saturday, November 22 when they beat Christendom College, 91-66. The game marked the first win in the early history of the Wilson men's basketball program.
The Phoenix came out hot against Christendom in the first half, shooting 40.0 percent (10-of-25) from the three point line. Darren Mohamed sparked Wilson's offense scoring 17 points and hitting five three pointers. Wilson strung together several scoring runs before taking a 58-40 lead over Christendom at the half.
Wilson continued to take advantage of the open three point line in the second half, attempting numerous three point shots. The Phoenix out rebounded Christendom 24-21, including seven offensive rebounds. Martez Beckett came off the bench and grabbed six rebounds in the half. Zach Gasper also entered the game and recorded four points.
Five Wilson players ended the game in double digit scoring. Darren Mohamed totaled 20 points, while Rasul Jackson recorded 16 points. Ben Holl and Rahim Bunch finished with 13 and 12 points respectively. Zach Gasper contributed with 10 points.
Wilson will open up conference play on December 6 at 3:00 p.m. at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
