Phoenix Score Season High Six Goals Over Byrn Mawr

Bryn Mawr, Pa. – The Phoenix field hockey team scored a season high six goals this afternoon as they topped Byrn Mawr College, 6-2.

Byrn Mawr took a 1-0 lead over the Phoenix at the half. Wilson outplayed its opponent in the second half however, tallying 6 goals and 18 shots.

Nicole Melanson sparked the Phoenix offense as she scored the team's first goal. Melanson's first shot was saved initially but then hit in the net off a rebound. Miranda Long scored back to back goals in the 41^st and 46^th minutes of regulation. Melanson followed Long with her second goal of the day in the 59^th minute of play and followed shortly with her third goal in the 62^ndminute. Hillary Swartz also contributed with a goal with assists from Miranda Long and Nicole Melanson.

The Phoenix outshot their opponent 20-10 and recorded five penalty corners. The team will travel to Wells College tomorrow for a 1:00 p.m. game against the Express.
