(SCRANTON, Pa.) – The Wilson women's soccer team faced an tough early season task as it battled Marywood in non-conference action on Friday evening. The Phoenix back line was tested throughout the night, and although they held their own, they eventually succumbed to a high-octane Pacers attack.

How It Happened

• The Pacers built early pressure with seven shots and three corner kicks in the opening 18 minutes, but Bella Scarlato (So., Severn. Md. / Glen Burnie) made three saves to keep the match scoreless. Wilson had its best opportunity after the aforementioned flurry as Breanna Oliviero (So., Wernersville, Pa. / Conrad Weiser) took a shot that was immediately blocked. It ended up being the lone shot of the day for the Blue and White.
• The Phoenix held Marywood scoreless through 40 before Kylie McDonald connected with Cassidy Tweedie for the game's first goal and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break.
• In the second half, Madison Ebersole (Jr., Big Pool, Md. / Clear Springs) came up big between the sticks with five saves in the early moments where the Pacers racked up four corner kicks and eight shots. Marywood eventually broke through again in the 63rd minute and added another just six minutes after that. The Pacers found the back of the net again in the 80th to set up the final score.

• Ebersole recorded 11 saves over 45 minutes in goal. Scarlato started in goal and finished with four saves in 45 minutes.
• Ebersole's 11 saves matches her career high set last season against Hood. It's the fourth time of her career with double-digit saves.
