Women's Soccer Rolls On Senior Day

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – Seven different players scored as Wilson easily handled Keystone in a convincing win to open up United East play on Saturday afternoon. It was an extra special day as the Phoenix honored seniors Kalea Pechart (Dalmatia, Pa. / Line Mountain) and Karen Cutler (Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) prior to the game. The duo went on to combine for three goals in the victory over the Giants.

How It Happened
  • The Blue and White wasted no time going on the attack and saw Madison Sokolowski (Felton, Pa. / Red Lion) connect with Shaylee McGlinchey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) just 71 seconds into the game for a quick lead. The duo then reversed roles for another goal just two minutes later. Pechart was the next Phoenix to find the back of the net with a goal in the seventh minute on an assist from Ashlynn Simmons (Gerrardstown, W.Va. / Musselman). Simmons was just getting warmed up and scored in the 10th minute for a 4-0 lead.
  • Simmons went on to add two more goals to record the hat trick. Sandwiched between those was a score by Cutler with a Simmons assist. That left Wilson with an 8-0 lead at the half.
  • It was more of the same for the Phoenix in the second half as they added two more goals. Claire Thompson (FY, Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) and Brynn Spangenberger (Jr., Chester Springs, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts) did the honors with McGlinchey providing the helpers on both to set up the final score.
Inside The Numbers
  • Simmons finished the day with nine points on three goals and three assists. That is tied for fifth for the most points in a single game this season.
  • Pechart's goals were her first since her sophomore season. It's the second brace of her career as she also put two in on October 19 against St. Elizabeth.
  • Cutler's goal was her second of the season.
  • Spangenberger's goal was the second of her career.
  • Sokolowski's goal was the second of her career.
  • Thompson found the back of the net for the first time this season.
  • McGlinchey had a busy day as she added four assists in addition to her goal for six points.
  • Wilson dominated the shot chart by a count of 38-0. Of those, 24 were on target. Wilson also generated three corner kicks.
  • Wilson has now defeated Keystone seven consecutive times. The Phoenix recorded clean sheets in the last four contests.
