(ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.) – The Wilson women's volleyball team capped off a busy week with a tri-match at Elizabethtown that also featured Saint Frances on Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix didn't come away with a win, but they did improve throughout the day.

How It Happened (Match 1)

• Saturday's opener saw the hosts jump out to a 9-2 lead in the opening set and never look back in speeding towards a first set win. Set 2 started out better for the Phoenix who were even through the first 12 points after a kill from Alexis Landis (So., Nottingham, Pa. / Octorara). The Blue Jays started to pull away from there and score 10 of the last 12 points en route to a 2-0 lead. Etown sped off to a 12-4 lead in the third to keep the momentum on their side.

How It Happened (Match 2)

• The Phoenix faired better in the second contest with Hannah Pollard (FY, Wilmington, N.C. / Wilmington Christian) and Alison Daniels (Jr., Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) pairing together for a block to cap a 4-0 run to open the match. Jayda Lichty (FY, Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern) later served up an ace to make it 14-8, Wilson's largest lead of the frame. The Red Wolves started chipping away from there and eventually took the lead at 18-17. Kills from Sydney Trace (FY, York, Pa. / Dallastown, Pa. / Penn State Mont Alto) and Pollard put Wilson back in front as teams started to exchange the lead. A service error allowed Wilson to serve for game point, but Saint Francis scored the last three for a 26-24 first set win.
• Set 2 belonged to SFU from the start as the Wolves raced out to a 16-5 lead and went on to take the 2-0 lead. Wilson didn't go away quietly and rallied to take the third. Down 19-14, Pollard sparked a push to get the Phoenix back in contention with a kill. Daniels went up for a pair of blocks on the next two points with one being joined with Emiley Hughes (FY, Milford, Pa. / Delaware Valley), and Lydia Mowers (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) got the Blue and White within one with an ace. After SFU scored the next point, the Phoenix went on a 7-1 run to take the third and stay alive.
• The momentum was shortlived as the Red Wolves raced out to a large lead in the fourth. Wilson did have a 4-0 run midway through the frame, but it was too late as SFU took the contest.

Inside The Numbers

• Abby Moreland (Sr., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) led the offense with 16 kills on the day with 12 coming against Saint Francis.
• Pollard continued to show excellence up front defensively with six blocks on the day. Daniels joined her with six, four of which came against Saint Francis for a new career high.
• Addie Hebert (Sr., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) paced the defense on the receiving end with a combined 23 digs. She reached double figures in both contests and is now 15 shy of 1,000 for her career.
