(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – Thursday's showdown between Wilson and Lebanon Valley saw the Phoenix give the Flying Dutchmen all they could handle and more. It resulted in a four set defeat for Wilson, but the hosts were just a few points away from forcing a fifth and had everyone in attendance on the edge of their seats.

How It Happened

• The Phoenix attempted to set the tone early and took a 6-4 lead at the start on the strength of kills by Jayda Lichty (FY, Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern), Michaela Windisch (Sr., Westminster, Md. / Catoctin), and Ashlynn Babbitt (So., Edenton, N.C.). The Dutchmen then caught fire and scored 10 consecutive to take command of the set. LVC remained comfortably ahead for the rest of the set.
• Wilson bounced back with its competitive spirit in the second. The Phoenix were still handed the defeat, but they had turned the corner and nearly rallied to pull even in the match. Babitt, Riley Cramer (FY, Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg), and Abby Moreland (Sr., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) registered kills in a 4-1 run to make it 19-18 in favor of the Dutchmen before the visitors closed off the comeback attempt with six of the next nine points.
• The script finally flipped in the third. Trailing by two, Windisch served up a pair of aces after an LVC error to give Wilson the lead. She added another ace and benefitted from a pair of Hannah Pollard (FY, Wilmington, FY, Wilmington, N.C. ) kills to give the Phoenix a commanding 16-9 lead en route to the set win.
• Momentum rolled into the fourth as the Blue and White jumped out to a 6-0 lead with kills from Babbitt, Lichty, Pollard, and another Windisch ace. The Dutchmen chipped away and got within two at 12-10 before Wilson extended its lead to 16-12 thanks to three kills from Lichty. Moreland helped push the advantage to 22-17 with two kills and an ace. Lebanon Valley halted the comeback attempt there, however, and scored eight of the next nine to seal the match.

Inside The Numbers

• Lichty had a stellar evening as she recorded a double-double on 12 kills and 10 digs. Babbitt and Moreland were close to joining her as well. Babbitt chalked up eight kills and 10 digs. Moreland added nine and eight.
• Defensively Addie Hebert (Sr., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) inched closer to 1,000 career digs with 20 on the night to lead all players.
• Pollard and Babbitt both recorded two blocks on the night.
