Chargers Too Much For Phoenix

(LANCASTER, Pa.) – The Wilson women's volleyball team made the trek to take on Lancaster Bible in United East action on Tuesday evening. The Chargers showed why they are one of the top teams in the conference and defeated the Phoenix in straight sets.

The Basics

Scores: Wilson 0, Lancaster Bible 3 (25-11, 25-11, 25-22)

Venue: Horst Athletic Center

Records: Wilson 1-17, 0-5 UE; Lancaster Bible 8-9, 5-1 UE

How It Happened
  • LBC was strong out of the gate and jumped out to a 13-4 lead. The Phoenix attempted to claw back with a 4-0 run with kills from Riley Cramer (FY, Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) and Abby Moreland (Sr., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin), but any momentum was short lived as the Chargers went on a 12-3 run to take the first. In the second, another Cramer kill kept Wilson within one at 7-6 early before Lancaster Bible answered with five-straight points. Jayda Lichty (FY, Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern) and Ashlynn Babbitt (So., Edenton, N.C. / John A. Holmes) answered with back-to-back kills, however each time Wilson attempted to go on a run LBC was able to counter.
  • The third set saw the Chargers open up a 10-3 lead, but this time Wilson was able to get back in contention with a 6-1 run. Alison Daniels (Jr., Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) and Hannah Pollard (FY, Wilmington, N.C. / Wilmington Christian) added kills during the push that also featured a Addie Hebert (Sr., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) ace and a Pollard Lichty block to help make it a 12-10 game with LBC in front. Later in the set, Moreland sparked a late rally with a kill and added back-to-back aces in front of a Daniels kill. Lichty then made it a 24-22 game before LBC closed the night with a kill.
Inside The Numbers
  • Moreland led the team with five kills. She added nine digs on the receiving end.
  • Hebert led the defense with 14 digs.
