(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The Wilson men's soccer team posted its second consecutive shutout in as many days to cap an unbeaten weekend on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Phoenix they were unable to score as well as they drew even with Pitt Greensburg.
Both teams had opportunities with Wilson's
Logan Neves (Jr., Fredericksburg, Va. / Colonial Forge) making some acrobatic saves to preserve the result.
The Basics
Score: Wilson 0, Pitt Greensburg 0
Venue: Kris's Meadow
Records: Wilson 1-3-1, Pitt Greensburg 1-2-2
How It Happened
- The Blue and White attempted a fast start that saw Jace Williams (Jr., Chesapeake, Va. / Hickory) fire off a shot just 41 seconds in that required the services of Greensburg keeper Nick Braun. Brian Mulholland (Sr., Oracle, Ariz. / Canyon del Oro) followed with a shot in the 11th minute that went wide right. Neves then saw his first action just over a minute later with a save on Greensburg's shot from Brandon Yeschenko to the lower left.
- Eric Arbogast (Jr., Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) and Andrew Bailey (Jr., Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) later had looks on the net with each taking a shot midway through the frame only to see Braun make the save. Pitt's Ben Pittman had the final chance in the half with Neves making the save.
- Neither team wasted time looking for a go-ahead goal at the beginning of the second half. Pittman took the opening shot, but was followed by attempts from Caden Pollard (Jr., Preston, Md. / Colonel Richardson), Williams, and Arbogast. After Arbogast's attempt, Pitt countered and saw Austin Emery send one towards the cage only to have it stopped by Neves.
- From there, both defenses limited the chances for the opposition. UPG found some momentum starting in the 72nd minute which saw a diving save from Neves. He added another couple of stops to keep the game scoreless.
