How It Happened (Match 1)
- Wilson started off strong with Masalyna Miller (FY, Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle-Antrim) scoring a pair of kills along with Allyson Garcelon (Sr., Sherwsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) scoring one for an early advantage. Etown quickly answered with the following five points and rolled that into a 14-3 run to take control. The Phoenix didn't go down quietly and eventually cut the deficit down to four after Alison Daniels (So., Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) sparked a comeback attempt with back-to-back kills. It was too much to overcome, however as the Blue Jays scored five of the next seven to take a 1-0 lead.
- Daniels remained hot and was a leader on the attack for the Phoenix on the day. She opened the second set with a couple more kills along with another Garcelon point to help Wilson stay close before the Blue Jays went on another large run. A Miller Garcelon block and a pair of Abby Moreland (Jr., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) kills gave Wilson some life before the Blue Jays went on another run to close out the second. That momentum fed into the third where the visitors took a 7-0 lead to start and remained in front for the win.
How It Happened (Match 2)
- The Devils opened up a 5-1 lead before the Phoenix climbed back into contention after a service error, an Ashlynn Babbitt (FY, Edenton, N.C. / John A. Holmes) kills, and a Moreland ace helped make it 8-7. After Florham made it 13-7, two kills from Daniels and aces from both Addie Hebert (Jr., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) and Michaela Windisch (Jr., Wesminster, Md. / Catoctin) made it 14-12. A Garcelon kill later tied the frame at 16, but the Devils closed the set with a 9-1 run.
- The second set saw the Phoenix climb back into contention after another early deficit. After trailing 10-4 early, the Blue and White used a Garcelon kill to get within one at 13-12. After Florham scored the next pair, a pair of Moreland kills and a Miller ace tied the set at 15-all. Wilson remained close into the 20s after Windisch laid down an ace to make it 22-20 before the Devils scored the next three for a 2-0 lead.
- Florham had its best start in the third as it jumped out to an 11-2 run. Wilson went on a 7-1 run thanks to two Moreland kills and one by Daniels, but couldn't get any closer than 16-13 as the Devils went on for the sweep.
Inside The Numbers
- Daniels had perhaps the best back-to-back matches of her career as she totaled 17 kills on the day. She led the team with nine against the Blue Jays and tied Moreland for the team lead with eight in the finale. Defensively she posted 14 digs with nine against the Devils.
- Moreland also had strong days both up front attacking and in the back row receiving. She evenly split 16 kills while tallying 24 digs with a baker's dozen coming against Etown. Her 11 against Florham led the team as well.
- Ida Fisher led Etown with 11 kills. Lucy Stranek added 10 digs.
- Florham was led by Tayla O'Connor who was 12 kills. Arianna Wood picked up 17 digs.
