(CRESSON, Pa.) – The Wilson women's volleyball team ran into one of the top teams out of the AMCC in Mount Aloysius and fell in three sets on Thursday evening. The Mounties hit over .300 in each set and seemingly stopped the Phoenix at every turn.
The Basics
Scores: Wilson 0, Mount Aloysius 3 (25-8, 25-14, 25-12)
Venue: Athletic, Convocation & Wellness Center
Records: Wilson 0-9, Mount Aloysius 9-3
How It Happened
- An Alison Daniels (So., Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) kill and a block by Alexis Landis (FY, Parkesburg, Pa.) and Allyson Garcelon (Sr., Shrewsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) helped the Phoenix stay close early. However, an 8-0 run by Mount Aloysius was the turning point in the set as it made the score 15-4 and the hosts coasted to the 1-0 lead from there.
- Wilson's best start came in the second as Masalyna Miller (FY, Greencastle, Pa.) excelled with a block and a couple of kills to give the Phoenix a 5-2 lead. Unfortunately the Mounties went on another long run and scored 13 of the next 14 points to once again take control. Landis and Daniels answered with kills in a rally of three, but Wilson was unable to capitalize on it.
- Abby Moreland (Jr., Sabillasville, Md. / Catoctin) and Garcelon added kills to go with a Miller ace before the Mounties reeled off seven consecutive points to create separation at the start of the third. A few MAC miscues helped Wilson along the way, but it wasn't enough as the Mounties finished off the sweep.
Inside The Numbers
- Daniels paced the offense with five kills on the evening. She was solid on the defensive side with six digs.
- Addie Hebert (Jr., Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) led the team on the receiving end with eight digs.
- Mount Aloysius was led by Molly Richards with a match-high 18 kills. Madison Barr led defensively with 15 digs.
