(WESTMINSTER, Md.) – Kate Seymour (Jr., Churchton, Md. / Southern) scored her third goal in the past two games, but McDaniel's attack proved to be too much as Wilson fell on the road Wednesday night. The Phoenix trailed by one at the half before the Green Terror inundated the Blue and White defense with 13 second half shots and added another pair of goals to take the win.
The Basics
Score: Wilson 1, McDaniel 4
Venue: Gill Stadium
Records: Wilson 1-4, McDaniel 3-3
How It Happened
- McDaniel got off to a big start with a pair of goals in the first quarter. Grace Legacy found the back of the cage for the first one on an assist by Kathryn Morin midway through the frame. Three minutes later the Green Terror added their second as Charley Noah scored.
- Wilson's offense started clicking more in the second quarter. The Phoenix put pressure on the McDaniel defense as Lenoree Hoke (Jr., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) and Mikayla Petersen (FY, Glen Burnie, Md. / North County) both had shots that were saved. Petersen's shot happened to ricochet back out where Seymour was waiting, and she was able to punch it in to cut the deficit in half. Petersen had another attempt following a penalty corner two minutes later, but the attempt was blocked and kept the score 2-1 at the break.
- After halftime, McDaniel came back with a high-octane attack that saw the hosts fire off six shots in the opening five minutes. The last of those resulted in another goal as Legacy scored her second of the game. The Green Terror held onto the momentum for the fourth quarter and added an insurance score with 7:25 to go.
Inside The Numbers
- Seymour's goal was the fourth of the season and third in the past two games.
- Erin Sullivan (So., Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) went the distance and made a season-high eight saves on the evening.
- McDaniel led on the shot chart by a 17-7 count. Penalty corners were more balanced with the hosts holding a slight 7-6 edge.
