How It Happened
- After a scoreless first quarter, action picked up early in the second quarter on a penalty corner. After the insert, Lenoree Hoke (Jr., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) was able to connect with Ginnah Kendall (FY, McConnellsburg, Pa. / Forbes Road) on the left side to put Wilson in front. Elizabethtown quickly pulled even with a goal by Hannah Long less than three minutes later and pulled in front after Rachel Troutman converted a penalty stroke with 4:20 to go until halftime.Shortly after Sara Watson padded the Blue Jays lead to make the score 3-1.
- Wilson started an impressive comeback in the third. It only resulted in one goal, but the five shots taken in the frame marked a change in the momentum. The goal belonged to Kate Seymour (Jr., Churchton, Md. / Southern) who took an assist from Lizzie Landon (Sr., West Grove, Pa. / Avon Grove) to pull the Phoenix within one with 5:40 to go in the third.
- Seymour wasn't finished as she tied the game early in the fourth. Another penalty corner helped set it up with Hoke once again providing the helper. The Phoenix proceeded to take the lead on another corner as the ball bounced around in front of the cage with Haley Hamrick (So., Taneytown, Md. / Union Bridge) eventually hammering it home after a deflection from Mikayla Petersen (FY, Glen Burnie, Md. / North County).
- Unfortunately, the Blue Jays were quick to answer. Just under a minute later Drew Bridges pulled Elizabethtown even. Moments later Watson scored her second of the day with 2:38 remaining to give the visitors the win.
