(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – The weather was much better for the postponed game on Monday between Wilson and Mount Aloysius was much better than the originally scheduled date 10 days prior. It didn't benefit the Phoenix as they fell to the visiting Mounties on a warm spring afternoon after the visitors opened up a large lead early and added it to it throughout the contest.
The Basics
Score: Wilson 2, Mount Aloysius 19
Venue: Henninger Field
Records: Wilson 6-23, Mount Aloysius 22-9
How It Happened
- The Mounties were quick to score as they put two of the first three batters on base which set up Jeremy Eck who doubled to left for a 2-0 lead. Owen McDermott followed with a home run to center to add another pair. The Mount Aloysius bats remained hot as they added five more in the second which started off with a lead-off homer.
- Wilson eventually got on the board in the fourth and fifth inning. Harry Middlebrooks (So., Bel Air, Md. / Archbishop Curley) launched one over the fence in left to lead off the fourth. Dallas Poole (FY, Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) led off the next frame with a double down the left field line and eventually scored on a base hit to left center by Joe Nawrocki (FY, Parkton, Md. / Calvert Hall). That would be it for the Phoenix offense. Mount Aloysius ended up scoring in every inning but the third to end the game in seven frames.
Inside The Numbers
- Middlebrooks now has recorded a hit in 17 of the last 19 games.
- The home run was Middlebrooks' third of the season and first since a win at Rosemont on March 29.
- Poole's double and run were his first on the season.
