How It Happened (Game 1 vs. N.C. Wesleyan)
  • It was a 3-0 contest headed to the fourth win the Bishops posted eight runs on six hits to break the game open. Wilson battled to stay alive and nearly did so in the fifth. Waverly Moffett (So., Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) led off the inning with a base hit up the middle. Abigail Evans (So., Muncy, Pa. / Warrior Run) followed with a walk before Sydney Barker (FY, Bel Air, Md. / John Carroll) singled through the left side to load the bases. Emily Randalls (FY, Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern York) made it pay off with a liner up the middle to bring in Moffett, but the Phoenix couldn't get any more in and left the bases juiced to end the game.
How It Happened (Game 2 vs. Vermont State Lyndon)
  • The Blue and White faired much better in Game 2 and got the bats warm in a hurry. Randalls led off with a triple down the left field line and was quickly brought home on a Katelyn Keller (FY, Orrtanna, Pa. / Gettysburg, Pa.) single to left. After a steal of second and a wild pitch, Keller scored on a grounder by Madison Briggs (Jr., Lock Haven, Pa. / Central Mountain). The Hornets were able to plate one with three hits in the bottom of the frame, but they were largely shut down the rest of the way.
  • Wilson put up another pair in the top of the third as Kayla Talbert (So., Hagerstown, Md. / North / Saint Peter's) scored on a Jenna Weaver (FY, Camp Hill, Pa. / Cedar Cliff) base hit through the right side after she led off with a single. Briggs, who walked after Talbert's base knock, made it 4-1 after she scored on a Payton Kendall (Sr., McConnellsburg, Pa. / Forbes Road) bunt.
  • Keller provided some two-out lightning in the fourth with a triple and made it 5-1 after a wild pitch. A Briggs single in the fifth allowed Kiera O'Brine (So., Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern) to pinch run and score on a Carleigh Magers (FY, Mount Airy, Md. / Urbana) single up the middle.
  • The Phoenix kept up the pressure with four runs in the sixth. Keller scored on a single by Talbert, and Talbert ended up making it home on a double to left center by Elena Worthington (So., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) that also brought in Briggs who reached on a single. Worthington eventually scored after a throwing error kept the inning alive.
  • On the opposite side, Samantha Rybacki (FY, Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) needed little help as she tossed Wilson's second gem in as many days at the Fastpitch Dream Spring Games. She went the distance and allowed one run on six hits while punching out eight.
Inside The Numbers
  • Eight different Phoenix provided hits in the second game with Keller, Talbert, Briggs, and Magers recording multiple hit games. Keller provided the most damage with three and scored three times with an RBI as well.
  • Worthington, who is primarily a pitcher, recorded her first collegiate hit and first two RBIs.
  • Briggs has had a solid couple of games in North Myrtle Beach as she has cone a combined 4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Up Next
Only one game is on the docket for Monday as Wilson takes on Spartanburg Methodist. First pitch is set bright and early at 9 a.m.
