(STAUNTON, Va.) - Two early goals against Mary Baldwin saw the Wilson men's soccer team prevail for the first time this season. Despite holding the lead for almost the entire game, it was anything but easy as the Fighting Squirrels kept the Phoenix back line under a constant barrage of shots.

How It Happened
- Setting a tone early, Chris Natale (Fy., Mt. Airy, Md. / Linganore) ripped a shot off target in the third minute. Seeking redemption, Natale opened the scoring for Wilson 53 seconds later with an assist from Andrew Bailey (So., Mt. Airy, Md. / Linganore).
- After a saved shot that set up a Wilson corner kick, Brian Plamp (Fy., Locust Grove, Va. / Orange County) extended the lead with another goal in the 21st minute.
- A late push by Mary Baldwin saw Edward Headley score in the 80th minute to pull within one. The hosts had two good looks in the 88th minute to pull even, but shots from Isaiah Williams and Edward Headley were both saved by Logan Neves (So., Frederiksburg, Va. / Colonial Forge
Inside The Numbers
- Mary Baldwin led the shot count 16-7, with nine on target compared to Wilson's two.
- Neves was huge between the pipes as he recorded eight saves for Wilson. Six came in the opening half while the last two preserved the save.
- Wilson is now 2-0 all-time against Mary Baldwin who recently went co-ed. The Phoenix defeated the Fighting Squirrels 4-2 on a rain-soaked day last season.
