How It Happened
- The Phoenix had their eyes fixed on the goal from the get-go and didn't have much trouble at the start as Smith found Shaffer just 54 seconds into the contest. It's possible it could have been the fastest goal to start a game in program history as it surpassed the first goal against Clarks Summit at 1:10 last season.
- Smith stayed busy as she find the back of the net twice 10 minutes later. The first was her scoring unassisted with a hard shot from the right side that had enough English on the ball to slip through the goalkeeper's arms. The second saw Maddy Miller (Jr., Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern) provide a helper for another score on the opposite side shortly after and gave Wilson a 3-0 advantage the rest of the half.
- Miller provided another assist, this time to Shaffer, to start the second half. Miller took the ball down to the left corner before tossing over a centering pass where Shaffer came rushing in. After a touch to control possession, Shaffer's shot to the center was true for a 4-0 lead.
- The final score came as a result of Wilson packing the box on a corner kick. It was initially controlled by the Nittany Lions' defense, but on there attempt to clear it, Reilly Ryan (FY, Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) was able to block the send out and the deflection went into the goal in the 82nd minute to set up the final.
