Late Score Dooms Wilson At Albright

(READING, Pa.) – A late goal spoiled Wilson's first road trip of the season as it fell to Albright on Sunday afternoon. The Phoenix and Lions were scoreless for the first 78 minutes before the hosts found the back of the net for the lone goal of the contest.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 0, Albright 1

Venue: Shirk Stadium

Records: Wilson 0-2, Albright 2-0

How It Happened
  • Wilson's attack caught fire out of the gate with four shots in the first nine minutes. Eric Arbogast (So., Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg), Lenin Cinco (So., Chantilly, Va. / Westfield), Omar Cortez (FY, Columbia, Tenn.), and Luis Jiminez (So., Carabobo, Venezuela / Taylor Allderdice) all had attempts with Cinco and Ortez's takes being on target which resulted in saves by Chris Denholm.
  • Albright countered with six of the next seven shots for the rest of the frame. The first two of those were on target with Logan Neves (So., Fredericksburg, Va. / Colonia Forge) making the stop both times.
  • Teams exchanged shots over the second half until Albright broke through in the 79th minute. After a corner kick, the Lions' Will Garnett was able to fire off a hard shot the ricocheted off the right post, but Christian Bowles followed up and headed it into the left side for the score.
  • Moments after the Blue and White had an excellent chance to equalize, but Andrew Bailey (So., Mt. Airy, Md. / Linganore) took a shot that went off the top woodwork. Bailey and Bryson Curtis (So., Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) both added shots in the final two minutes, but neither were on target.
Inside The Numbers
  • Albright led the shot battle by a 20-12 count overall and 7-3 margin in shots on goal.
  • Neves played a strong game despite the result as he made six saves on the afternoon, four of which were in the second half.
