(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – A penalty kick with 21 seconds left provided the only score in season opening battle between Wilson and Eastern Mennonite on Friday afternoon.
Maddy Miller (Jr., Dillsburg, Pa.) did the honors as the Blue and White held off one last push by the Royals to secure the victory.

How It Happened
- Despite the low scoring affair, the Phoenix had their chances throughout the game. Kayla Richards (Jr., Hagerstown, Md.) set the tone early with a shot just 55 seconds into the contest with Halley Shaffer (Jr., Sunbury, Pa.) added two that were saved in the next 10 minutes. Albeit not as many, the Royals had their chances as well, but Rebecca Marakovitz (Sr., New Market, Md. / Linganore) made a pair of saves in the opening frame to keep the game scoreless.
- One of the better chances of the day came midway through the second as Annie Smith (So., Hagerstown, Md. / ) took a free kick set up by a foul. Smith fired from just outside the box, but hit the woodwork on the upper right 90.
- The pivotal final seconds came as Wilson gave it one final push and benefited from a foul inside the box. Zoie Echols (FY., Harrisburg, Pa.) looked to take a pass from midfield and drive in from the left side of the box, While trying to beat her defender, she was tripped up prompting a whistle and a PK awarded where Miller was true on the strike.
