Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | By Logan Smith

St. Mary's Too Much For Phoenix

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – It was a tough day for the Wilson women's lacrosse team as it took on the top team in the league in St. Mary's. The Phoenix offense was largely stifled for the majority of the contest as the Seahawks took the victory.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 1, St. Mary's 20

Venue: Chambersburg High School

Records: Wilson 7-3, 1-1 UE; St. Mary's 7-5, 3-0

How It Happened
  • The Seahawks asserted their dominance early and jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first period of play. That lead increased to 12-0 before Wilson found the back of the net for its only goal of the game. It came on a player-up opportunity as Emily Young scored on an assist from Sage Lague  just before the half.
  • Unfortunately that was all the offense Wilson was able to muster as the Seahawks scored four in the third and fourth while shutting out the Phoenix the rest of the way.
Inside The Numbers
  • Jill Ahlgren was still strong defensively with five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and five draw controls.
  • Kaelyn Goff played the second half in goal and made nine saves.
Up Next
Wilson will play Bryn Athyn on the road in the penultimate game of the regular season.
