Shaffer Scores 100th Point As Wilson Routes Keystone

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – Halley Shaffer (Jr., Sunbury, Pa. / Line Mountain) reached a milestone as she became the first player in program history to record 100 points in her career as Wilson downed Keystone in conference play Tuesday. The junior did so by scoring a hat trick with her third goal coming early in the second half.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 14, Keystone 0

Venue: Kris's Meadow

Records: Wilson 9-2-2, 2-2-0 UE; Keystone 2-8-0, 0-3-0 UE

How It Happened
  • Shaffer started the high scoring affair after she received a cross from Maddy Miller (Jr., Dillsburg, Pa. / Northern) just 2:31 into the contest. It was a sign of things to come as Miller was also responsible for the helper on the next goal which was score by Annie Smith (So., Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) three minutes later. Smith and Shaffer scored the next two in the 21st and 28th minutes, respectfully.
  • Becca Cordell (Jr., Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro) entered the game in the 32nd minute and wasted no time making an impact as Karen Cutler (So., Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) found her for a goal less than a minute later. Zoie Echols (FY, Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) followed up with another score to give Wilson a 6-0 lead at the break.
  • The trend continued in the second half with Shaffer and Smith finishing their hat tricks early while Echols joined them in the 60th minute. Madison Sokolowski (FY, Felton, Pa. / Red Lion) got in the mix with a pair of goals while Miller and Kalea Pechart (So., Dalmatia, Pa. / Line Mountain) also found the back of the net to cap the scoring.
Inside The Numbers
  • Wilson outshot Keystone 38-3 overall in the game. Two of the Giants' shots were on goal, but Erin Roszkowiak (Sr., Cinnaminson, N.J. / Cinnaminson) made the stop on both occasions to preserve the complete game clean sheet, the team's 10th of the season.
  • A dozen different players recorded at least a point for the Blue and White. Nine of them recorded multiple points.
  • The goals by Cordell and Pechart were their first of the season.
  • The margin of victory matches the previous record recorded against Penn State Schuylkill in 2022 and sets a new record against a conference opponent breaking the old mark set against Valley Forge, also in 2022.
  • Shaffer's 100 points have come on 46 goals and eight assists. She ranks 26th in Division III among active players for most goals scored, 18th in goals per game at 0.86, and 19th for points per game at 1.88.
