How It happened
- Valley Forge started the game hot as they exploded into a 10-3 run to begin the first quarter of play where it led the entire quarter. Wilson would flip the script halfway through the first quarter and go on a 10-4 of their own that was jump started by a three-point bucket by Caldwell-Degnon. Stricek knocked down a two-point jumper followed by a free throw on the next possession. The quarter would end after Kaionna Hanna made a jumper to put the Patriots up by two.
- Wilson took the lead with the first points in the second quarter after a Hanna Brownlee (Fy., Avella, Pa. / Avella) three. Wilson began to dominate the game as it went on a 13-4 run courtesy of seven points off turnovers in the second quarter. During the run Stricek knocked down three points from the line while Yaya Cannon (Sr., Lancaster, Pa. / Elizabethtown) and Black scored the rest from the paint ultimately sending the Phoenix soaring into the half with a nine-point lead.
- The Phoenix offense picked up right where it left off in the third by adding two points from the foul line. All points scored for Wilson, besides a Robinson three, would be scored in the paint. On the opposite end the Phoenix limited the opposition to six points, outscoring them by 15 in the quarter.
- The Patriots were not done fighting as they would push back on the deficit in the fourth quarter. The Patriots began the fourth with a layup from Olivia Rochkind that would be answered by another Robinson 3-pointer. Stricek picked up her eighth double-double after recording an offensive rebound halfway through the fourth. The Phoenix eventually pushed the lead to a game-high 30 points with two minutes left in the game.
Inside The numbers
- Wilson dominated the glass as it tallied 62 rebounds as a team. It's the most rebounds as a team since 2019 where they recorded 61 rebounds against Penn State Berks. The total was five shy of tying the program record of 67 rebounds that was recorded in a game against Cedar Crest on November 22, 2016.
- Wilson's presence on the glass was noticed thanks to a total of 24 second chance points while limiting the Patriots to seven. Wilson outscored Valley Forge by 10 points in the paint where half of their total points would be tacked on from that location.
- Wilson outscored Valley Forge 26 points in the second and third quarter where the Patriots would not crack double digits during that time. Wilson's Defense would prove to be sound as they limited the patriots to a field goal percentage of 16% in the middle quarters, which included a 9.1% shooting percentage in the third quarter.
- Mariah Matthews tallied 22 of the Patriots points.
