(ANNVILLE, Pa.) – A powerful Lebanon Valley squad was too much for Wilson as it fell on the road on Tuesday evening. The Phoenix held the Flying Dutchmen scoreless until about five minutes left in the first half, but three second half goals prevented any chance of a comeback for the Phoenix.
The Basics
Score: Wilson 0, Lebanon Valley 4
Venue: Arnold Field
Records: Wilson 5-3, Lebanon Valley 6-3
How It Happened
- While the Dutchmen were able to get a couple of shots early on, the Phoenix were able to match them with a couple of shots of their own midway through the first quarter. Kate Seymour (Fy., Churchton, Md. / Southern) and Payton Kendall (Jr., McConnellsburg, Pa. / Forbes Road) were the duo able to get off a swing, but Seymour's shot was saved by Lebanon Valley keeper Lauren Jancsarics while Kendall's take went wide.
- The Dutchmen were consistently pursuant for the rest of the first half with 16 shots that followed before the halftime break. Allyson Shindler (Gr., Manchester, Pa. / Northeastern) did extremely well to keep the game scorless until Lebanon Valley eventually scored with 5:10 left in the second quarter. Shindler was still able to keep it a 1-0 game at the break with three more saves before the frame ended.
- Lebanon Valley were quick off the start in the second half and scored a minute in for a 2-0 lead. While Wilson was able to prevent the Dutchmen attack from getting many shots off in the third, the hosts were able to extend their lead once again with 1:51 left in the third. Lebanon Valley added its last goal in the final seconds of the contest.
Inside The Numbers
- Shots heavily favored the Dutchmen by a 28-4 advantage overall and a 16-3 count in shots on goal. All four attempts for the Phoenix took place in the first half.
- Despite the four goals allowed, Shindler had a spectacular game with 12 for a new career high, surpassing her previous best by three.
- Of the four shots taken by the Phoenix, Seymour was behind three of them. All three were on target.
