Men's Soccer Falls at Pitt-Greensburg

(YOUNGWOOD, Pa.) – The Wilson men's soccer team's five game road slate came to an end with a loss to Pitt-Greensburg in non-conference action Wednesday. The Phoenix held the Bobcats scoreless until late in the first half with an insurance goal scored late in the second.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 0, Pitt-Greensburg 2

Venue: Westmoreland County Community College

Records: Wilson 1-6, Pitt-Greensburg 2-3-1

How It Happened
  • Shots were flying early with the Bobcats unleashing four of them in the opening 15 minutes. Two were close calls as one went off the crossbar and another was saved by Vincent Natale (So., Mt. Airy, Md. / Linganore). Wilson managed to get off one of its own with Jace Williams (Fy., Chesapeake, Va. / Hickory) taking a chance in the sixth minute.
  • Williams and Eric Arbogast (Fy., Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) had additional opportunities later in the frame with both going up high. Minutes later the Bobcats were on the attack once again. Natale was able to make a save on a shot in the 36th minute, but the hosts kept possession and Matt Armenio scored 53 seconds later for the first goal.
  • The score remained unchanged until late in the game. Ian Ruiz (Sr., Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico / Colegio Santa Maria del Camino) had a chance to equalize in the 80th minute, but his shot to the bottom center was saved by Bobcat keeper Nick Braun. Pitt-Greensburg ended up scoring the insurance goal two minutes later as Zander Plizga found the back of the net.
Inside The Numbers

  • Corner kicks heavily favored the hosts by an 8-1 margin.
