(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – An upstart Wilson men's soccer team looked to post a result against visiting St. Vincent in its season opener, but were unfortunately upended thanks to a late goal. The Phoenix and Bearcats played 83 minutes of scoreless ball before a long pass up the left side led to the visitor's lone goal of the game.

How It Happened
- St. Vincent held the early advantage peppering its offensive zone with seven shots in the first 20 minutes. Only two were on target, however, as Logan Neves (Fy., Fredericksburg, Va. / Colonial Forge) had little trouble making the saves to keep the game scoreless.
- Wilson eventually had some solid opportunities come its way in the second half with Lenin Cinco (Fy., Chantilly, Va. / Westfield) getting off a shot on target in the early minutes. Tyler Cottone (Fy., Milford, Pa. / Delaware Valley) gave the Phoenix another close chance in the in the final 10, but that too was saved.
- The Bearcats were able to counter Cottone's take and switch ends of the field in a hasty manor. Ethan Bridges was able to send a long pass down the left center side of the field and find Mattia Speretta who went near side lower 90 on the breakaway goal.
- Brian Mulholland (So., Oracle, Ariz. / Canyon del Oro) and Luis Jiminez (Fy., Carabobo, Venezuela / Taylor Allerdice) both had shots on goal in the final minutes, but St. V's Grant Archuleta made the saves to preserve the win for the visitors.
Inside The Numbers
- St. Vincent held a 15-6 advantage in overall shots, but shots on goal were much closer at 7-5 in favor of the Bearcats.
- Neves was excellent in his collegiate debut with six saves while also disrupting other close chances by the opposition.
