How It Happened
  • It didn't take long for the Blue and White to get the offense rolling as the Phoenix took 10 shots in the first 20 minutes. The eighth of those was the one that put the visitors on the scoreboard as Bianca Sommers (So., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) found the back of the net for the first time this season.
  • Wilson fired off six more shots by he end of the half, but Nittany Lions goalie Victoria Grimm made saves on five of them and the other shot was wide to keep the game 1-0 at the break.
  • Action went back-and-forth to start the second with teams exchanging shots. Wilson took the first three before the Nittany Lions took a couple with Rebecca Marakovitz (Jr., New Market, Md. / Linganore) making the save on both. The Phoenix countered and broke through for their second goal as Ava Cox (Fy., Middletown, Md. / Middletown) took her own rebound and scored in the 55th minute. Just over three minutes later, Annie Smith (Fy., Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) made it 3-0.
  • The Phoenix kept the pressure on and had plenty of options as two more attackers got in on the action. Zoe Rosen (Fy., Shepherdstown, W.Va. / Jefferson) made it 4-0 as she scored in the 71st, while Katie Riley (Sr., Mt. Airy, Md. / Urbana) put the finishing touches on the game with her second goal of the year in the 81st minute.
