(TOWSON, Md.) – The Wilson men's soccer team gave the Gophers of Goucher all they could handle Wednesday afternoon, but came up just short after the hosts scored late in the game. The Phoenix pulled even midway through the second half, but Goucher kept the pressure and netted a goal with 15 minutes left to take the win.

How It Happened
- Both teams came out firing with each taking shots in the early minutes of the game. Wilson's offense kept equal pressure on Goucher's defense in the first half, totaling five shots. Goucher eventually got on the board in the 27th minute as Michael Adekanmbi scored on an assist from Will Frasier. The score remained 1-0 through halftime.
- Brian Mulholland (So., Oracle,Ariz. / Canyon del Oro) netted the lone Phoenix goal in the 66th minute with an assist from Eric Arbogast (Fy., Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) to tie the game.
- Adekanmbi eventually scored again in the late minutes of the contest, with his second goal for the Gophers in the 76th minute. Dylan Youman (Sr., Westminster, Md. / South Carroll) gave Wilson some hope to tie it up for the second time, but his shot was saved in the 85th minute.
Inside The Numbers
- Logan Neves (Fy., Fredericksburg, Va. / Colonial Forge) was tested much more often in the second half. Sixteen shots came in with Neves making saves on four of them.
- Five different players tallied the eight shots for the Phoenix with Jace Williams (Fy., Chesapeake, Va. / Hickory) leading the pack with three shots and one on goal.
- The Gophers outshot the Phoenix 24-8, keeping control for the majority of the game. Only a fraction were on target, however, as shots on goal were 7-4 in favor of the Gophers.
