(ABINGTON, Pa.) – In its final tune-up before Skye Division play starts up, Wilson fell to fellow United East member Penn State-Abington in three sets on Monday evening. Despite the result, the Phoenix battled throughout and made the match much closer than the result appeared.

How It Happened
- Kills from Abby Moreland (Fy., Sabaillasville, Catoctin), Deah Menedis (Jr., Reisterstown, Md. / Franklin), and Allyson Garcelon (So., Shrewsburry, Susquehannock (Psychology) helped Wilson jump out to a 5-1 lead to open up the contest. The Nittany Lions eventually rallied to take a 10-9 lead before another Moreland swing tied the set again. Momentum stayed with the hosts, however, as they scored the next five points. A 4-0 run late brought Wilson within three at 23-20 before the Nittany Lions scored the next two for the 1-0 lead.
- The Phoenix nearly equaled their first set start in the second with kills from Moreland, Menedis, and Niki Schussler (Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) giving them a 4-1 lead before the Lions bounced back to tie the set at 9-all. A Moreland kill put the Blue and White up shortly before the Lions answered with a 6-1 run to jump back in front. A Menedis kill and two Lions errors tied it again at 16-all, but Wilson couldn't take advantage as Penn State-Abington eventually took a 2-0 lead.
- The third set saw the Lions pounce to their best start of the night as they eventually took a 15-6 lead. Wilson wasn't going to give up easily and eventually clawed its way back to tie the game at 17-all on an 11-2 run. The Nittany Lions countered with the next three points before the Phoenix equaled those actions on a pair of Garcelon sandwiched around one from Menedis. A Menedis block put Wilson even once again at 21-all, but the hosts scored four of the next five to claim the match.
