(CHESTERTOWN, Md.) – In its first tri of the season Wilson dropped a pair of contests to hosting Washington College and fellow visitors Immaculata on Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix opened up with the homestanding Shorewomen before closing the day with the Mighty Macs. While they fell in both matches, they showed considerable improvement as the day went on.

HOW IT HAPPENED (MATCH 1 vs. Washington)
- Washington opened up the match with the first six points before a short two-point rally gave Wilson some momentum. The hosts rebounded quickly, however, and went on another long rally to take control.
- In the third set, Wilson tied the game early with a kill from Allyson Garcelon (Fr., Shrewsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) and a Washington attack error. After two more points by Washington, Deah Menedis (So., Reisterstown, Md. / Franklin) answered with a kill to pull back within one, but the Shorewomen went on another long rally to seal the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (MATCH 1 vs. Washington)
- Menedis led the attack with four kills.
- Defensively the trio of Menedis, Jenna Dixon (Fr., California, Pa. / California), and Alexis Buckley (So., Millsboro, Del. / Indian River) led the team with four digs each.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MATCH 2 vs. Immaculata)
- The Phoenix showed resolve in the second match. Despite going down by 10 early in the first set, a 6-1 rally brought them back within two at 18-16. A Menedis kill brought them within four at 21-17, but Immaculata closed the game with the final four points.
- In the second set Wilson played close early with kills by Niki Schussler (So., Chambersburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) and Menedis which made the score 6-4. Immaculata responded with the next four points and remained in control the rest of the set.
- The third set was the best of the day for the Phoenix. A 13-1 rally was sparked by Schussler and followed by a Garcelon kill. Garcelon capped the comeback attempt with an ace to make the score 23-20 before the Macs scored the final two points to take the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (MATCH 2 vs. Immaculata)
- Schussler and Menedis led a balanced attack with five kills each. Garcelon was right behind them with four.
- Garcelon added pair of aces to lead the team. She also set up the bulk of the attack with eight assists.
- Buckley and Schussler both reached double figures defensively with 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
