Pflumm Helps Field Hockey Fly By Ferrum

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – Alexis Pflumm (Camden, Del. / Caesar Rodney) will remember the 21st of September for a while as she scored four goals and an assist in leading Wilson over visiting Ferrum. The senior sparked the offense with three of them during a five-goal barrage by the Phoenix in the middle two frames.

The Basics

Score: Wilson 6, Ferrum 1

Records: Wilson 3-2, Ferrum 2-3

How It Happened
  • Possession largely was controlled by the Phoenix throughout the game, but the Panthers were able to fire off one shot on goal early in the game. They made it count as Jenna Theron scored on Ferrum's chance on target the entire game.
  • Wilson was able to put four of nine shots on target in the first, but didn't break through until the second when Paige Ney (Fy., Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville) scored the equalizer 4:50 into the frame. Pflumm provided the assist and followed through with a go-ahead goal with 2:48 to go in the half.
  • In the third quarter, it didn't take long for Wilson to add to its lead. Brea Kelso (So., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) scored just 3:24 into the period. Pflumm added her second just 1:18 later and added her third thanks to a helper from Kaley Barnhart (Jr., Greencastle, Pa.) with 3:19 left in the quarter.
  • Pflumm added her fourth and the overall final goal of the game shortly into the fourth on a pass from Alexis Alleman (Sr., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg).
Inside The Numbers
  • Wilson outshot Ferrum 36-3 overall and 22-1 with takes on target in the game.
  • Ferrum made four saves in each quarter for 16 total.
  • Corners were completely in favor of the Phoenix by a 22-0 count. They totaled seven each in both the second and third quarters.
  • Pflumm's four goals matches a career high she set against Bryn Athyn last year on October 23. Her assist today gives her a new career best with nine points in a single game.
  • Kelso's goal was her fourth of the season. She now has 11 points on the year.
  • Ney's score was her fifth of the year. She too has 11 points on the year.
