How It Happened (Match 1 vs. PSU-Berks)
  • PSU-Berks used early leads in both of the first two sets and used the momentum built to go on to take a 2-0 lead. However, the third set played out differently. It looked as though it would be similar to the first two as the Nittany Lions took a 4-0 lead, but a 5-2 rally capped by a Karyssa Faith (Fr., Clear Spring, Md. /Saint Maria Goretti) kill tied the set at 5-all.
  • The Nittany Lions soon went up again and although the Phoenix cut the deficit to 12-10, they could get no closer as PSU-Berks went on to take the match.
Inside The Numbers (Match 1 vs. PSU-Berks)
  • Deah Menedis (So., Reisterstown, Md. / Franklin) led the team and had shared match-high honors with five kills. Jenna Dixon (Fr., California, Pa. / California) set up the offense with five assists. Allyson Garcelon (Fr., Shrewsbury, Pa. / Susquehannock) added four.
  • Defense was by committee as well with Niki Schussler (So., Chambersburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Christian) leading the way with five digs. Menedis added four. Alexis Buckley (So., Millsboro, Del. / Indian River) made three.
How It Happened (Match 2 vs. Lycoming)
  • The nightcap mirrored the opener as host Lycoming took early leads in the opening two sets en route to wins. The third set started better for the Phoenix as they were even through the first rotation. A kill from Schussler tied the game at 5-5 and another evened the set at 6-all before Lycoming went on a rally to take control and sealed the match.
