Field Hockey Runs Regular Season Win Streak To 20

(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – A late fourth quarter goal was the only goal in the game as Wilson continued its regular season win streak in a shutout of Sweet Briar. The game was scheduled as a non-conference affair to start the season.
Score: Sweet Briar 0, Wilson 1
Records: Sweet Briar 0-1, Wilson 1-0
How It Happened:
  • Defense was the name of the game early on as Sweet Briar generated the only shot of the first quarter. Goalkeeper Allyson Shindler (Sr., Manchester, Pa. / Northeastern) made the kick save to keep the game scoreless through one.
  • The second quarter saw a surge by the Phoenix as they fired up four shots, but the Vixens made three saves while the fourth went wide. Both teams went into halftime scoreless.
  • Both teams were even with four shots each in the third, but neither team was able to break through as the netminders halted the only shot on target each way.
  • The game look destined to go to extra time until Wilson found the back of the goal with under five minutes to go. Alexis Pflumm (Sr., Camden, Del. / Caesar Rodney) lined up a swing and put the ball in the direction of Brea Kelso (So., ) in front of the goal. Kelso was able to get a deflection and put it past the goalie to provide the difference.
