CHAMBERSBURG, Pa- The Wilson College women's basketball team resumed conference play tonight against the University of Valley Forge. The Phoenix (10-8, 9-3 CSAC) pushed past the visiting Patriots (4-13, 4-10 CSAC) with a final score of 70-45.
How It Happened: The first quarter showed a strong defensive effort by the Phoenix, holding the Patriots to just two points. Despite the strong first-quarter performance, there was a shift of momentum after Valley Forge earned the first bucket of the second quarter. Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) the Phoenix maintained a two-point lead going into the half with a score of 25-23. Coming out of the half, Wilson regained composure on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball only allowing seven points from the Patriots. Samira Murphy (Virginia Beach, VA., Great Bridge Christian) earned eight points to help secure victory and bring the score to its final 70-45.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson's performance in the paint was key in their victory over Valley Forge, as they outscored the Patriots with 30 points in the paint. Senior
Tioleaoauli Posiulai notched her first double-double of the season with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks. Junior
Naomi Hanton (Bristow, Va., Keystone College) led the team in points with 14 points, seven rebounds, and one steal on the night.
