How It Happened: In the opening set, the Phoenix got on the board early with a pair of kills by senior Shae Cardenas (Torrance, CA., ). Leading 16-10, the Ravens rattled off seven of the next eight points to push their lead to 23-11 and would close out the set 25-13. In the second set, the Phoenix jumped out to a 5-3 lead with kills by senior Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) and freshman Jackson Cordell (Waynesboro, PA, Waynesboro Area Senior H.S.). After the Ravens tied it up, Cordell tallied back-to-back kills to make the lead 7-5 in favor of the hosts. With the Phoenix leading 11-9, the Ravens went on a 5-0 run to take a 14-11 lead. A kill by Cardenas brought the Phoenix within four points at 18-14, but the Ravens closed out the set scoring seven of the next eight points for a 25-15 win in set #2. During the third set, the Phoenix climbed out to a 5-3 advantage, highlighted by back-to-back kills by Hetzer and Cardenas. The Ravens responded by scoring nine of the next ten points to grab a 12-6 lead. A run by the Phoenix that included a service ace by Jackson and a kill by senior Connor Martin (Warner Robins, GA., Houston County) pulled the team to within two points at 14-12.
