Pflumm Named Co-Player of the Year

(VILLANOVA, Pa.) – Senior midfielder Alexis Pflumm (Camden, Del. / Caesar Rodney) was named co-CSAC Player of the Year highlighting a Phoenix-filled all-conference list as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. In addition to Pflumm, Allyson Shindler (Sr., Manchester, Pa. / Northeastern), Hailey Steele (So., Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville), Brea Kelso (So., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg), Paige Ney (Fy., Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville), Alexis Alleman (Sr., Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg), and Elizabeth Landon (Fy., West Grove, Pa. / Avon Grove) also received accolades.

Head coaches voted on the awards and all-conference teams and named Pflumm, Shindler and Steele as All-CSAC First Team selections. Kelso and Ney were Second Team choices, while Alleman and Landon were Honorable Mentions.

In addition to her first team honors, Steele was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for Wilson.

Pflumm becomes a three-time all-conference selection and repeats as a first team pick. She has been instrumental in possession control for the Phoenix throughout the season. She led the CSAC with 81 shots and was second with 49 shots on goal. Additionally she was fifth in the league with 12 goals, sixth with six assists, and fourth with 30 points. She was also in charge of playing post on defensive corners.

Shindler has been a brick wall for the Phoenix all year and led the CSAC with a 1.161 goals against average in over 800 minutes played. She recorded shutouts in six of the nine shutouts Wilson recorded this season and started the other three she shared. As a result she led the league in fewest goals allowed with 16.

Steele was also a key figure in those shutouts and helped make Shindler's job a little easier. In addition to helping Wilson blank opponents, Steele led a defense that allowed fewer than five shots in seven games. Two of those games saw just one shot and one had no shots. In terms of shots on goal, the defense had 10 games of three or fewer allowed.

Kelso was a force on the front line for the Phoenix. She was fifth in the league with seven assists and eighth with 10 goals scored. The combination put her seventh in points scored with 27. She was also 10th in both shots and shots on goal with 33 and 23, respectively.

Ney had a spectacular debut season and ended up being the leading goal scorer for the Phoenix. She totaled 13 goals on the season, good for fourth in the CSAC, and added two assists for 28 points, sixth-best in the league. Her four game-winning goals also led the CSAC.

Alleman was another key figure in the defense not allowing any penetration. In addition to not allowing many shots, many teams found it difficult to move the ball to the offensive end. Alleman was responsible for part of that as her midfield play disrupted any momentum offensive tried to generate.

Landon was another key contributor to the offense at midfield in her first season. She led the league with .571 assists per game with eight in 14 games. As a result she was 16th in the CSAC with 12 points.
