SAINT MARY'S CITY, MD-  The Wilson College women's basketball team faced off against the St. Mary's Seahawks earlier this afternoon in a nonconference game. The Phoenix fourth-quarter comeback attempt fell short as the game concluded with a final score of 70-63. 
How It Happened: In the first quarter, Wilson's 
Samira Murphy (Virginia Beach, Va., Great Bridge Christian) scored the first basket of the game. From there, the score went back and forth with five ties over the first 10 minutes. The Phoenix held the lead moving into the second quarter, off a good three-pointer from 
Naomi Hanton (Bristow, Va., Patriot) to bring the score to 15-14. The second quarter continued in a similar fashion to the first, this time with the Seahawks securing a five-point lead heading into halftime. St. Mary's offense came alive in the third quarter, expanding their lead over the Phoenix by 12 to bring the score to 51-39.  Wilson's offense pushed to come back in the fourth quarter as time progressed. A good free throw from 
Bry Hicks (Lancaster, Pa., Lancaster Catholic) started a seven-point run for the Phoenix to cut the Seahawk's lead to two. A pair of free throws from St. Mary's expanded the lead, bringing the score to 66-60 with 20 seconds remaining.  
Naomi Hanton capitalized on free throws with 15 seconds remaining to bring the score to 68-62. With eight seconds remaining 
Jewels Torres (York, Pa, West York) hit one of her two free throws to cut the Seahawk's lead to five. However, a second later, St. Mary's scored the final free throws of the game to close out the game with a final score of 70-63. 
Inside the Box Score: Naomi Hanton was the team's leading scorer with 17 points, three rebounds, and one steal. Two other Phoenix finished in double digits, 
Adrianna Stricek (Harrisburg, Pa., Trinity) with 13, followed by 
Bry Hicks with 11.  Hicks led the team with four steals, followed by five others with one steal apiece. 
Samira Murphy finished with nine rebounds leading the team.
