(CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.) – In a battle between the lone unbeaten teams in the CSAC, it was Wilson who reigned victorious with a shutout of Keystone at Homecoming on Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix used a quick goal at the start of the game and the defense remained impenetrable the rest of the way despite numerous attempts by the Giants.
The Basics
Score: Wilson 1, Keystone 0
Venue: Wilson Field Hockey Field
Records: Wilson 8-3, 4-0; Keystone 8-8, 4-1
How It Happened
- For the third consecutive game, Wilson was able to find the back of the net within the first five minutes of play. This time it took just 44 seconds as Paige Ney (Fy., Biglerville, Pa. / Biglerville) received a pinpoint pass from Elizabeth Landon (Fy., West Grove, Pa. / Avon Grove) from the right side.
- Afterwards Keystone tried relentlessly for the equalizer, but the Phoenix back line didn't budge. Allyson Shindler (Sr., Manchester, Pa. / Northeastern) made sure of it as she made three saves the rest of the quarter.
- Wilson appeared to make it 2-0 late in the half as the ball found its way into the goal, but the whistle blew for a foul just before the shot attempt to keep the score 1-0 through the break.
- Keystone again put on the pressure in the second half, but Shindler remained unscathed. She also received some help from her back line as Alexis Pflumm (Sr., Camden, Del. / Caesar Rodney) made a defensive save with under nine minutes to go in the game.
