CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College women's volleyball team faced off against the Bue Jays of Elizabethtown College in another non-conference match. The Phoenix (0-4, 0-0 CSAC) fought hard but were defeated by the Blue Jays (6-3, 0-0 LDMRK) by a match score of 3-0, with set scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-14.
How It Happened: In the first set, Elizabethtown jumped out to an early 9-5 lead. Shortly after, the Blue Jays started a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 16-5. The Phoenix started a run late, but could not overcome the deficit, falling in the set 25-11. In the second set, both teams started out battling. With Wilson down one, the Phoenix started a 5-1 run that pushed them in front, 10-7. Elizabethtown then jumped on a 6-0 run that flipped the score and put them in front, 13-10. The Blue Jays would take the second set by a score of 25-17. In the third set, Elizabethtown took an early 4-2 lead. Wilson then took a 4-2 run that tied the match at six apiece. The Blue Jays then started a 10-3 run that gave them a 16-9 lead as they would take the final set by a score of 25-14.

Anika Eigen-Zucchi (Washington, D.C., St. Johns College High School) paced the offense with six kills while seniors
Tia Jones (Springfield, VA., Lake Braddock) and
Tioleaoauli Posiulai (Waipahu, HI., University Laboratory School) tallied four each. Senior
Sierra Hill (Hagerstown, Md., South Hagerstown) finished with a total of nine digs while sophomore
Myla Owens (Westampton, NJ., Rancocas Valley Regional High School) collected 10 assists. The Phoenix finished with 17 kills on 71 attempts against 18 errors while their opponent finished with 35 kills, 80 attempts, and 10 errors.
Up Next: The women's volleyball team will play a tri-match this Saturday, September 25, where they will take on Drew University and the United States Merchant Marine Academy starting at noon.
