CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College men's soccer team took on the Bobcats of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in nonconference action earlier today. The Phoenix (0-2, 0-0 CSAC) dropped a heartbreaker to the Bobcats (3-0-1, 0-0) by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
How It Happened: Wilson came out hot and managed to record the first two shots, both coming from sophomore
Connor Bowers (Hagerstown, MD, North Hagerstown High School). Then, in the 28th minute, junior
Victor Ortiz (Caguas, Puerto Rico, Ana G. Mendez University System) netted the first goal of the match. Sophomore
Ian Ruiz Gonzalez (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Colegio Santa Maria del Camino) fired off another shot for Wilson before the half, but could not find the back of the net as Wilson entered halftime leading by one.
Less than ten minutes into the second half,
Ruiz Gonzalez extended the Phoenix lead to 2-0 as he tallied his first goal of the season. In the 62nd minute of the match, the Bobcats cut the deficit to just one as they managed to slip a goal by the defense. Later on, in the 88th minute, Greensburg knotted the game up as both teams went into overtime tied at 2-2. Wilson battled but could not hold off the Bobcats as Greensburg scored in the 98th minute, giving them the 3-2 victory.

Ruiz Gonzalez led the team in shots. Junior
Billy Merk (Macungie, PA, Lehigh Carbon Community College) led both teams with a total of three saves. Altogether, Wilson finished with six shots, including four on goal.
