MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Wilson College men's volleyball team faced off against the Eagles of St. Elizabeth University in two matches, earlier this afternoon. The Phoenix (1-8, 0-3 CSAC) dropped both matches to the Eagles (4-0, 3-0 CSAC) by scores of three sets to nil in the first match (6-25, 15-25, 13-25) and three sets to one in the second match (22-25, 18-25, 28-26, 12-25).
Match One: Wilson fell behind early in the first set and could not catch up as St. Elizabeth took set one, 25-6. In the second set, the Eagles jumped out to an early lead only for the Phoenix to claw their way back to within four points. Wilson fought hard but could not complete the comeback as St. Elizabeth took set two, 25-15. The Eagles closed out the match in set three by a final score of 25-13.

Oliver Perry (London, England, Okanagan Secondary) led the charge with six kills, four assists, four digs, and one block. Junior
Andrew Hetzer (Chambersburg, PA., Cumberland Valley Christian) rounded out match one with three kills, three assists, and three digs while sophomore
Noah Wickenheiser (Cresco, PA, Notre Dame) tallied eight digs, one assist, and one kill. Freshman
Jeremiah Carter-Johnson (Richmond, VA., Mills E. Godwin)capped off the match with a season-high two blocks.
Match Two: In the first set, the Phoenix came out hot and took a 13-6 lead early on. St. Elizabeth started to chip away until things were tied at 19 apiece. Wilson could not hold off the Eagles as they took set one by a score of 25-22. St. Elizabeth took a lead early in set two but the Phoenix managed to gather some points and stay close in the set. Wilson hung tough but dropped set two by a score of 25-18. Set number three was a real thriller as both teams battled for control. Neither team could control a solid lead as they traded leads throughout the set. Wilson's efforts paid off as they won the third set, 28-26. The Eagles went on to win the match after taking the fourth set by a final score of 25-12.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson finished match one with 31 kills on 110 attempts against 22 errors, for a hitting percentage of .082, while their opponents finished with 34 kills on 102 attempts against 19 errors, for a hitting percentage of .147.
Perry tallied 12 kills, nine assists, nine digs, and two aces,
Hetzer added 12 assists, seven kills, two aces, and one block and, junior
Shae Cardenas (Torrance, CA., West Los Angeles CC) totaled 13 digs, seven kills, and one ace.
