GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Wilson College baseball team opened their season on the road taking on the Bobcats of the University of Pittsburg at Greensburg. The Phoenix (2-0) were firing on all cylinders tonight as they defeated the Bobcats (0-2) in both games of a doubleheader matchup by scores of 12-4 both.
Game One: In the bottom part of the first inning, Greensburg opened up the scoring off a Wilson error. The Phoenix would make up for it quickly though in the second inning. Sophomore
Dean Mercer (Dunedin, FL., Clearwater Central Catholic) scored on a wild pitch that evened things up at one apiece. Later on in the inning, senior
James Husar (Oxford, CT., CCBC Essex (Md.)) sent an RBI single up the middle, that tipped the Phoenix in front, 2-1. Soon after, senior
Dylan Procopio (Pittsburgh, PA., Westmoreland Community College) got his season started with a homer to left-center field that added two more runs. Wilson would never look back, keeping the lead and going to take game one by a final score of 12-4.
Inside the Box Score: The Phoenix capped off their night with a total of five home runs in the game coming off of

Peyton Mason (Knoxville, MD, Boonsboro HS), sophomore
Michael Marralle (Sykesville, MD, Old Dominion Univ.), and junior

Mercer tallied up three doubles in the game. Junior
Cam Nolet (Annapolis, MD., S.C. Aiken) got the start for Wilson as he walked away with a win after throwing three innings and striking out six opponents. The Phoenix finished the night with twelve runs off of sixteen hits and one error while their opponents finished with four runs on nine hits and two errors.
Game Two: Wilson got things started early in the first inning as junior
Brandon Cook (Glen Burnie, MD., Shepherd University) scored on a balk. Immediately after,
Mason homered to right field, putting the Phoenix up, 2-0. The scoring wouldn't stop as Wilson added two more runs in the inning. One run off an RBI double from freshman
Brady Andre (Brookeville, MD, Sherwood HS) and an RBI single from junior
Juan Rosario (Hollywood, FL., Hollywood Hills) that pushed the Phoenix to a 4-0 lead after the first inning of play.
The Bobcats narrowed the lead in the home-half of their inning, tallying up three runs and pushing the score to 4-3, in favor of Wilson. After a scoreless second inning, the Phoenix added two more runs in the third. Junior
Kevin Finn (Gaithersburg, MD., Watkins Mill) added a run off an RBI sacrifice fly followed by a wild play that allowed
Rosario to score, extending the Wilson lead to 6-3. The Phoenix continued to work the bats throughout the game, scoring six more runs, as they would go on to defeat Greensburg by a final score of 12-4 in game two.
Inside the Box Score: Wilson finished the game with a total of fourteen hits and zero errors while holding their opponent to just five hits while they committed just one error. Junior
Kevin Ehrman (York, PA., Central York) records his first win of the season as he finishes the night pitching five innings, striking out seven batters, on his way to the victory. The offense was really working in game one as

Mason,
Andre, and
Gerald Buchanan all capped the game off with doubles while
Mason and junior
Eric Holz (Williamsport, PA., Loyalsock Township) added home runs.
